Lecture on Coastal Vulnerability to Hurricanes by Dr. Stephen Leatherman
Friday, July 14, 7:30 p.m.
at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Dr. Stephen Leatherman will be presenting a free public lecture about
coastal vulnerability to hurricanes on Friday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Mass
Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Given the recent attention to
storm events and the predictions that the Cape is due for a hurricane soon,
this presentation is very timely.

Since 1997, Dr. Leatherman has been the Director of the International
Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) as well as the Director for the Laboratory
of Costal Research, which is one of the four laboratories at IHRC. Dr.
Leatherman's major research focus is storm impacts on coastal areas,
including high-technology mapping with airborne lasers.

He is a very engaging speaker and is most well known as "Dr. Beach", who
rates the "Best Beaches in the USA". Coast Guard Beach in Eastham has made
the top 10 list several times.

More information about Dr. Leatherman can be found at the
