Green Home and Business Energy Series to Run at Cape Cod National Seashore and Waquoit Bay Reserve

Recent events have brought energy issues to the forefront both politically and very personally. Homeowners and business owners looking for practical, local solutions for skyrocketing energy costs are advised to attend the Green Home and Business: Focus on Energy series of workshops which will be held Wednesdays during the month of March.

Each workshop will feature expert speakers and take-home information. The program will be repeated; in the afternoon from 2- 4 at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham, and again in the evening from 7-9 pm at Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Visitor Center in Falmouth.

The series kicks off on March 1 with “The Real Story Behind Your Energy Bill” Shocked and confused by your energy bill? Find out where our electricity, oil and gas really come from. Al Benson from the US Department of Energy (and a former energy company insider) will bring real insight into why we’re at the point we are now and what the future holds in store. The rest of the program will center on the Cape’s electrical supply, how to really understand your electric bill and programs available to you that can help you reduce your expenses.

The programs are free. Salt Pond Visitor Center is located on Route 6 in Eastham (508-255-3421). The Waquoit Bay Reserve is located on Route 28 in Waquoit (508-457-0495 x 107). These workshops are sponsored by Cape Cod National Estuarine Research Reserve, Cape and Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative, and Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
