COMMUNITY PROGRAM ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16th
Cape Cod's Sierra Club Group will offer an unusual program on global warming
and energy issues, on Saturday night, December 16th, in Falmouth. The
public is invited.
The program will begin at 7:00 pm with a showing of Al Gore's famous movie,
"An Inconvenient Truth." This movie helps to explain the global warming
problem.
After the movie, the question will be asked, "How does this movie - and the
proposals included - relate to human rights and energy policy for Cape Cod
and the islands?" Does the current discussion about global warming move us
towards environmental justice?
What should Cape Cod do in order to protect its coastal environment while
providing for human needs? How do we provide everyone with safe and
sustainable energy?
Information about the Sierra Club's involvement with local and national
energy issues will be distributed. Expect a few surprises. On Cape Cod, the
Club encourages more energy use in some households. Some Cape Cod residents
can't afford energy conservation.
No admission price for the movie... The movie will be shown at the
Unitarian Universalist church at 840 Sandwich Road, in East Falmouth.... The
building is accessible for people with disabilities..... INFORMATION: (508)
457-0449.
On New Years Day, there will be a citizens gathering in Woods Hole, to
reflect on global warming and environmental justice issues... The citizens
gathering will start at 11:00 am, at the Woods Hole Community Hall... At noon,
families will enjoy the traditional New Years walk around Eel Pond.... Music,
dancing, and holiday treats will be included....
