THE NATURAL HISTORY OF CAPE COD
A Course Presented by
The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
January 11-March 22, 2007

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is presenting a ten-week course, The
Natural History of Cape Cod, providing participants with a foundation in
Cape natural history, in factors affecting our natural resources and in
tactics used to preserve our fragile environment. Every Thursday from
4:30-6:30 pm, from January 11 to March 22 (no class February 22),
distinguished naturalists, scientists and administrators from Cape Cod
educational and environmental organizations will conduct presentations
designed to supplement elementary and middle school life science and earth
science curriculum frameworks.
Topics include the geological origin of Cape ecosystems; plant and animal
interrelationships; biodiversity and conservation issues. Presenters include
Beth Schwarzman, Jim O'Connell (WHOI), Pat Harcourt (Waquoit Bay), Peter
Trull, Nancy Church (Waquoit Bay), Kathy Zabzebski (President, National
Marine Life Center), Katie Touhey (Director, Cape Cod Stranding Network),
Robbie Fearn (Director, Cape Wildlife Center), Brenda Boleyn (Professor,
Cape Cod Community College) and Steve Seymour (Director, Green Cape).
Twenty PDPs will be given in Life Science and Earth Science. The course is
open to the public. The cost for the course is $120 for Non-Members and $100
for Members. Reservations and prepayment will be taken at the museum or by
phone (508-896-3867, Ext. 133) from December 1-December 30.
