Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a special field
workshop on

COLLECTING & IDENTIFYING FISH
Saturday & Sunday, June 4 and 5, 12–4 P.M.

Leader: Brian Jensen is a Professor of Biology at College of Saint Rose in
Albany and studies the reproductive physiology of mummichogs and other
fishes.

This two-part workshop will provide a unique opportunity to study fish in
depth and to learn how to conduct a research project and chose the best
sampling techniques. The first day will cover a series of sampling methods
(curiosity traps, haul seines, sieves, Berelese funnel, and quadrats) in
various marine, estuarine, and freshwater environments. There will be
discussion of the advantages of each technique in addition to information
provided on the biology of the fish species found in these habitats. On day
two, participants will apply what they have learned through a biological
survey of salt marsh fish.

Fee for the two field workshops: $10 for members of Mass Audubon and $12 for
non-members. Registration is required. Call the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife
Sanctuary at 508-349-2615 for information or to sign-up.
