Homeowners Can Harness the Wind for Energy: Lecture Shows How

South Wellfleet and Waquoit, MA-Wind seems ever-present on Cape Cod and
Cape Codders can harness this free source of energy with small-scale
wind turbines, thus reducing our dependence on energy from non-renewable
resources. With recent focus on the proposed large-scale wind project in
Nantucket Sound, there has been little discussion over the importance of
energy efficiency and utilizing renewable energy in our own homes and
small businesses. Erecting small turbines in individual backyards may be
part of the solution. Tom Wineman, a renewable energy consultant, will
provide an introduction to wind turbines made to power homes and
businesses during a workshop of Green Home& Business: Focus on Energy,
an educational series that focuses on energy in the home and small
business. Topics covered will include wind power basics, an overview of
small wind technology, basic site assessment, and cost analysis.

This talk, the last in the Green Home series, will be held on Tuesday,
April 5 from 2-4 p.m. at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in South
Wellfleet and then repeated later that the same day from 7-9 p.m. at the
Waquoit Bay Reserve in Waquoit. The program is FREE and registration is
not required, but preferred. The Green Home & Business: Focus on Energy
series is sponsored by four partners: Cape & Islands Renewable Energy
Collaborative, Cape and Islands Self-Reliance, Mass Audubon, and Waquoit
Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.

For additional information about this FREE series or to register please
contact the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary at 508-349-2615 to sign up
for the Wellfleet location or contact Waquoit Bay Reserve at
508-457-0495 x107 to register for the Waquoit location.
