Join us for a lecture on Coastal Change on Cape Cod.

LOSING OR GAINING GROUND?
Coastal Change on Cape Cod
Thursday, May 13, 7 p.m.

by Jim O’Connell, WHOI Sea Grant Program/Cape Cod Cooperative Extension
at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

How did the shores of the Outer Cape fair the winter storms? Where is
shoreline change, particularly erosion, most significant? Is coastal erosion
good or bad? How will sea level rise impact our coastal properties? Jim O’
Connell, Coastal Process Specialist with WHOI Sea Grant Program and Cape Cod
Cooperative Extension will address these questions and more. This slide
presentation will trace the geologic evolution of the Outer Cape, describe
shoreline change trends over the last 150 years including results of current
research, and highlight the attempts, and impacts, of halting erosion.

The lecture is sponsored by Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Cost is $3 for members of Mass Auduobn and $5 for non-members. Registration
is required. For more information, or to register, please contact the
sanctuary at 508-349-2615 or by e-mail at mlowe at massaudubon.org.

Thank you.
