Joel Feigenbaum, a Cape Cod activist for peace and environmental protection,
will be remembered at a special community program, on Wednesday night, April
23, called "The Environment and War." The public is invited.

The April 23 program will begin at 7:00 pm. It will take place at the
Unitarian Universalist meetinghouse, 840 Sandwich Road, in East Falmouth.

Presentations will review the environmental impact of war and Cape Cod's
continuing involvement with military projects. Speakers will include James
Kinney, representing the Cape Codders for Peace and Justice; David Dow, a
local Sierra Club activist; and Jack Pearce, a marine biologist who is the
editor of the "Marine Pollution Bulletin."

The demand for scarce natural resources - petroleum, drinking water,
farmland, etc. - contributes to global conflict. Military operations, and
preparations for military action, have a long-term impact on the natural
environment and on humanity's future. The April 23 program will raise the
question, "How can environmentalists work with others for world peace?"
There will be opportunities for citizen discussion.

Joel Feigenbuam, who died on April 16, was active for more than twenty
years in encouraging cleanup activities at the Massachusetts Military
Reservation. He was an outspoken critic of the PAVE PAWS radar
installation. During the 1990s, Dr. Feigenbaum was an advisor to Puerto
Rican activists concerned about Navy operations on the island of Vieques.
Joel Feigenbaum's memorial service took place on Friday, April 18, at the
Jewish Congregation center, in Falmouth.

The April 23 discussion will honor Joel Feigenbaum and his continuing
inspiration on Cape Cod. For additional information, please call (508)
457-0449.
