Prof. Valiela Keynote Speaker at

OPET Annual Meeting

Oyster Pond Environmental Trust (OPET) will hold its annual meeting at Sea Education Association on
Woods Hole Road on Tuesday, July 16.  Refreshments will be served at 7:00 PM.  The annual meeting
commences at 7:30 PM.  All are welcome.

This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Ivan Valiela of the Boston University Marine Program, located in
Woods Hole on the Marine Biological Laboratory campus.  His topic is "Links Between Watersheds
and Coastal Bays of Cape Cod: A Case Study of Oyster Pond."

Last autumn, Prof. Valiela's class focused on Oyster Pond, addressing identified concerns
through scientific study.  Prof. Valiela's presentation will inform on the concerns of
nutrient loading from septic systems and other issues related to the health of Oyster Pond.

The public is invited.
