Please forward this message to any friends, co-workers, neighbors, or
others, who are looking for something nice to do on New Year's Day...

The annual New Year's Day walk in Woods Hole will begin at noon, on
Wednesday, January 1, in front of the Woods Hole Community Hall... There
will be an easy walk around Eel Pond... Plenty of opportunities to use
holiday noisemakers and to shout "Happy New Year!" to everyone who watches
the holiday procession...

At Waterfront Park, we'll pause to "toast the coast" with non-alcoholic
beverages...

This is the moment when people make their New Year's resolutions and when
they say something about their hopes, concerns, and dreams for our natural
environment and for coastal communities like Woods Hole... It's the time to
talk with each other about some of the things that we share and want to
protect...

Afterwards, everyone will retreat into Woods Hole Community Hall for a
potluck holiday party... This, too, is an important local tradition... It's
the moment when leftover holiday goodies - fruit cake slices, cookies, boxes
of candy, and other goodies - get passed around and enjoyed... For many of
us Cape Cod folks, the holiday season ends at this particular point... No
more candy canes or Santa Claus cakes until next December! The new year
begins... Count the calories....
