The Massachusetts Audubon Society's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is
hosting two field trips that focus on the role of aquaculture on the
Outer Cape.
FARMING THE SEA

Thursday, October 18, 10 a.m.?Noon—Taking Stock of Eastham’s Shellfish
Leaders: Henry Lind, Eastham Natural Resources Director & Bill Walton,
Town of Wellfleet’s Shellfish Constable
Field trips to the Town of Eastham’s Aquaculture Technology Training
Center and to the tidal flats of Wellfeet will provide a real hands-on
approach to learning about the role of aquaculture on the Outer Cape. We
will venture out to the flats of Wellfeet with Bill Walton of
Wellfleet’s Shellfish Department to actively learn about the role of
aquaculture and different farming techniques. Henry Lind of Eastham’s
Natural Resources Department will introduce participants to the new
Aquaculture Center which serves as a hatchery and nursery for shellfish
like steamers and quahogs.
Both field programs are FREE. Space is limited and Pre-Registration
is required.
