"Life and Living in Space"
A Teacher Enhancement Workshop for High School and
Community College Teachers

November 29 - December 2, 2001

Organizers:  Diana Blazis, Marine Biological
Laboratory

Workshop will be held at the Marine Biological
Laboratory, Woods Hole

The workshop will provide participants with content
knowledge in several areas of active research in the
space life sciences, including human physiology in
space, agriculture in space, and issues of planetary
protection and microbial contamination of
spacecraft. In addition to lectures from life
science researchers, considerable time will be spent
engaged in hands-on activities, which use low cost
and easily available materials. Participants will
also be introduced to available NASA educational
resources.

Dormitory housing, food, and a modest stipend will
be provided, as will PDPs. Fund will also be
available to cover the cost of substitute teachers
for your classroom.

Applications are due November 1, 2001 and are
available from Diana Blazis, MBL's Center for
Advanced Studies in the Space Life Sciences,
