Coastal Processes Workshop
On Tuesday, November 27, from 9:30 - noon, Waquoit
Bay Reserve and The Cape Cod and Islands Association
of Realtors are sponsoring a workshop entitled
Coastal Erosion: Cape Cod's Changing Coastline. The
program will be presented by Jim O'Connell, Coastal
Processes Specialist, Sea Grant/Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution and the Barnstable County
Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and Dr. Chris
Weidman, Research Coordinator, Waquoit Bay Reserve.
Participants in the workshop will gain a basic
understanding of the geologic history of Cape Cod
and how coastal processes affect coastal properties
here. Pertinent information on laws concerning
building in coastal areas will be discussed. The
question, "Is there really anything a homeowner can
do to prevent or slow erosion in coastal areas?"
will be addressed.
Although the workshop is designed for realtors,
other community members are welcome to attend. The
morning session is free but registration is required
through Cape Cod and Islands Association of
Realtors, 508-957- 4300 or education@cciaor.com.
Call 508-457-0495 x107 for further information.
