this Friday night.

THE NATURE OF PROTECTING VERNAL POOLS
Friday, March 30, 7 p.m.
Fee: FREE
Leader: Pat Dorcus, Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary director

Vernal pools are not just puddles of water. There are many different
types of vernal pools with different vegetation, and physical
characteristics. Some dry up every year, some remain wet for several
years. How does this affect the animals that live there? Can you
predict what types of salamanders and invertebrates will live there by
knowing the physical characteristics of the pool? How can this
knowledge aid in identifying and certifying vernal pools? Join us to
learn more about the efforts to protect these important habitats.

This program will be held at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary,
located on Route 6 in South Wellfleet. For more information please call
(or e-mail) Melissa Lowe at 508-349-2615 (mlowe@wellfleetbay.org).

THANKS!
