A WORKSHOP SERIES

Spring 2001: Cost-Saving Ideas for Communities to Conserve Energy and
Protect Our Climate

April 27, 2001 - In the Hot Seat: Local Governments
and Global Warming

Workshop participants will learn how to assess their community’s
vulnerabilities to global warming.  Case studies will highlight how
towns are reducing greenhouse gas emissions, turning to renewable energy
and saving money at the same time. An overview will be presented of the
likely climate change impacts on Cape Cod and the New England regional
outlook.  Participants will receive the newly published US National
Assessment of Climate Impacts Overview.

Where:  Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Route 28,
Waquoit

When:    9 AM to 12 Noon

Who Should Attend: Town selectmen, town managers and department heads,
members of boards and commissions, non-profit organizations, and citizen
groups

Sponsored by: Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in
partnership with Cape and Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative, League
of Women Voters of Cape Cod, League of Women Voters of Falmouth,
GreenCAPE, and the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management
