Hi Mitch,

I remember you well, especially your change of direction after 9/11/2001.  Weren't you stuck overseas for a while because the planes were grounded?  It's hard to believe we're coming up on the 20th anniversary of that horrible day.

We have a "jobs" list that you're welcome to post to: jpjobs at whoi.edu<mailto:jpjobs at whoi.edu>.  Current students, alumni, postdocs, and even some current staff members subscribe to the list.  That would be the best place to send your job opportunity.

Thanks for reaching out to the Joint Program!  I'm glad you're doing well and want to remind you that I like to receive pictures from former students.  I remember you sent me one of you and your wife when you got married, and I enjoyed seeing it.

I am hoping I can catch you at WHOI before you retire.  I graduated from the Joint Program in 2002 with an MS and am now working at a medical device company within Johnson & Johnson.  I am looking for motivated, smart candidates for a position that I am trying to fill and wanted to see if you knew of any students who may be interested.  The position has nothing to do with oceanography, so it is certainly open to people who would like to explore a career different than their academic training.  The starting salary will be above the median for EAPS posted on  https://capd.mit.edu/resources/doctoral-outcomes-and-salaries whether the candidate has an MS or Ph.D.

Please feel free to let me know if you or the Academic Office would consider this a distraction to the students' studies and I will refrain from future contacts about job postings.
