The School for Marine Science and Technology at the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for a postdoctoral
investigator to work on problems relating to the effects of turbulence,
aerosols, and other atmospheric parameters on optical transmission in
the marine atmospheric boundary layer.Specific project areas include
field observations from fixed, autonomous and shipboard platforms, and
state-of-the-art numerical modeling of how fluctuating properties of the
marine boundary layer affect optical transmission. Work will include
collecting and interpreting field observations using theory and
numerical results; analyzing and synthesizing data from such studies;
working with researches from collaborating institutions; and
disseminating results through workshops, conference presentations, and
peer reviewed publications.

A Ph.D. in physical oceanography or meteorology, or closely related
field is required. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of
basic principles of air-sea interaction, with significant education /
experience in boundary layer physics and/or turbulence.Additional
experience in numerical modeling preferred, including familiarity with
Matlab computing software and Fortran programming language, or
comparable computing environments (Python, C++, R, etc.).Applicants are
expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills and
organizational ability, and a demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed
publications commensurate with experience. U.S. citizens preferred.

Interested applicants that meet the requirements are encouraged to
