        sans-serif">The School for Marine Science and Technology at the
        University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for a
        postdoctoral investigator to work on problems relating to the
        effects of turbulence, aerosols, and other atmospheric
        parameters on optical transmission in the marine atmospheric
        boundary layer.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">&nbsp; </span>Specific
        project areas include field observations from fixed, autonomous
        and shipboard platforms, and state-of-the-art numerical modeling
        of how fluctuating properties of the marine boundary layer
        affect optical transmission. Work will include collecting and
        interpreting field observations using theory and numerical
        results; analyzing and synthesizing data from such studies;
        working with researches from collaborating institutions; and
        disseminating results through workshops, conference
        presentations, and peer reviewed publications.</font></p>

    <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:6.0pt;
      margin-left:0in;line-height:normal"><font face="Helvetica, Arial,
        sans-serif">A Ph.D. in physical oceanography or meteorology, or
        closely related field is required.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">&nbsp;
        </span>The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of
        basic principles of air-sea interaction, with significant
        education / experience in boundary layer physics and/or
        turbulence.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">&nbsp; </span>Additional
        experience in numerical modeling preferred, including
        familiarity with Matlab computing software and Fortran
        programming language, or comparable computing environments
        (Python, C++, R, etc.).<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">&nbsp; </span>Applicants
        are expected to have excellent written and oral communication
        skills and organizational ability, and a demonstrated track
        record of peer-reviewed publications commensurate with
        experience. U.S. citizens preferred.&nbsp;</font></p>
