* Description: The Assistant Director of Regional Engagement
(hereafter, just 'Assistant Director') will support and grow
COMPASS' work to empower scientists to engage in the public
discourse about the environment, particularly in the western U.S.
This individual will lead and contribute to our work to connect
scientists to decision makers to transform, frame, and catalyze the
policy dialogue around natural resources throughout the West (across
local, state, and regional levels), and make connections between
this work and the federal discourse. This individual will also lead
and contribute to communication trainings, especially highly
customized workshops focused on helping scientists to share their
collective insights with society around salient environmental
topics. The Assistant Director will ensure that COMPASS is well
connected to relevant science and networks of scientists across a
diversity of fields (spanning oceans, land, and freshwater) to
inform COMPASS' current and future directions. This position will be
an integral member of the COMPASS team, with the opportunity to
contribute to a diversity of other activities.

2. Associate Program Officer - Early Career Grants

* Description: This position reports to the Senior Program Officer of
the Critical Species and Places (CS) lens. The Assistant Program
Officer (aPO) works in close collaboration with the Senior Program
Officer of the Critical Species and Places (CS) lens, the Program
Officer of the Changing Planet (CP) lens, the Operations team, and
the Database Manager, with the primary responsibility of evaluating
and processing Early Career Applications in the CS and CP lenses. An
Early Career Grant application is a request for funding that offers
individuals their first opportunity to lead their own project. The

applicants for Research and Conservation grants in the disciplines

7. Fall 2017 Science & Policy Communications Fellow program

15. Marine Scientific Advisor

* Description: The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks a Marine
Scientific Advisor to contribute to the implementation of its marine
conservation efforts in Madagascar. WCS develops and leads
science-based, community-driven field conservation and capacity
building programs in three priority seascapes: Toliara, Antongil
Bay, and Nosy Be, and is seeking to establish new MPAs in other
parts of the country. The marine conservation program primarily
focuses on: i) working closely with local communities and the
government to restore local fisheries and protect coastal and marine
systems; ii) managing marine protected areas recently created in the
northwest, southwest and northeast and supporting establishment of
new marine protected areas, iii) supporting a global effort to
conserve threatened populations of globally important marine
species, including cetaceans and sharks and rays; iv) training and
capacity building in marine conservation within and external to WCS,
and participation in overall marine conservation planning and
prioritization in Madagascar. The position is based in the capital
city of Antananarivo, and will require extensive travel to field
