policy dialogue around natural resources throughout the
West (across local, state, and regional levels), and
make connections between this work and the federal
discourse. This individual will also lead and contribute
to communication trainings, especially highly customized
workshops focused on helping scientists to share their
collective insights with society around salient
environmental topics. The Assistant Director will ensure
that COMPASS is well connected to relevant science and
networks of scientists across a diversity of fields
(spanning oceans, land, and freshwater) to inform
COMPASS' current and future directions. This position
will be an integral member of the COMPASS team, with the
opportunity to contribute to a diversity of other
activities.</li>

Associate Program Officer - Early Career Grants</div>

<li>Description: This position reports to the Senior
Program Officer of the Critical Species and Places (CS)
lens. The Assistant Program Officer (aPO) works in close
collaboration with the Senior Program Officer of the
Critical Species and Places (CS) lens, the Program
Officer of the Changing Planet (CP) lens, the Operations
team, and the Database Manager, with the primary
responsibility of evaluating and processing Early Career
Applications in the CS and CP lenses. An Early Career
Grant application is a request for funding that offers
individuals their first opportunity to lead their own
project. The aPO is responsible for reviewing requests
from Early Career applicants for Research and
Conservation grants in the disciplines of Biology,
Ecology and Conservation. The aPO ensures consistency
and timely grant processing for the Early Career
applications and coordinates regular grant decision
meetings for this constituency. The aPO also helps
manage grantee correspondence in the POs' shared account
and assists the CS and CP lenses as needed.</li>

Postdoctoral Fellow based at the University of British
Columbia to lead a detailed assessment and analysis of
biodiversity in coastal benthic habitats of the Calvert
Island Marine Station on the Central Coast of British
Columbia. The position is part of an ongoing research
program aiming to understand nearshore biodiversity of
this unique region. The Fellow's time will be split
equally between leading the "BioBlitz" and complementary
biodiversity research, with data analysis/manuscript
preparation stemming from these two activities. <span

iii) supporting a global effort to conserve threatened
populations of globally important marine species,

and capacity building in marine conservation within and

conservation planning and prioritization in Madagascar.
