3. CIRES/Outreach Professional Research Assistant: The Lens on Climate
Change Program Manager
* Organization: The Cooperative Institute for Research in
Environmental Sciences (CIRES)
* Location: Boulder, CO
* Description: The Lens on Climate Change is a newly funded 3 year NSF
project under the ITEST solicitation. The project engages Colorado
middle and high school students in film production documenting the
effects of climatic and environmental changes on their lives and in
their communities. Mentored by graduate and undergraduates
participants complete all steps of video production. Mentors come
from the Colorado Film School at the Community College in Aurora,
and from CU science graduate programs. This newly funded NSF project
builds on a pilot project. The Lens on Climate Change project
includes two different programs: a 6 months long School Year program
targeting urban and suburban low-income, underrepresented students,
and a 1-week long, intensive Summer program targeting rural, low-
income, Native American and Hispanic students. The project includes
an educational research plan with two broad goals: i) a comparison
of the effectiveness of the two different programs and ii) the
characterization of how social networks of peers, parents mentors,
and student demographic factors mediate and influence the impacts of
the program.

4. Public Outreach Coordinator/Education Specialist

5. Post-doc Position

* Description: The Marine Ecology Lab at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab
is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to assist with a
National Academy of Sciences funded synthesis project to evaluate
and compare the performance of the various restoration technologies
used for the many existing Alabama living shorelines. The selected
individual will be joining a diverse team of researchers in ecology,
social sciences, economics, and NGO managers to create a
summary/synthesis document to be used to strengthen, and direct,
future restoration efforts within Alabama and across the Gulf of
Mexico. The position is available in January 2016. The initial
appointment is for 1 year with the potential for an additional year.

6. VISTA Training Coordinator

of the Resilience AmeriCorps pilot program, beginning in January
2016. Resilience AmeriCorps is being piloted as a response to the
President's 2013 Climate Action Plan. Volunteers in Service to
America (VISTAs) will be placed in projects selected in ten cities
to increase civic engagement and community resilience in low-income
areas and help local leaders as they plan for and address the impact
of extreme weather events. The training coordinator will work

15. Habitat Restoration Grant Specialist
