Ocean Conservancy is gearing up to embark on a 1-2 year effort to
identify "breakthrough" approaches that have the potential to
revolutionize fisheries management, and we are recruiting a
Science-Policy Fellow to support this practical research initiative. The
Science-Policy Fellow will work directly with Ocean Conservancy's CEO
and the Vice President of Conservation Policy and Programs, and will
collaborate with practitioners, interdisciplinary experts, and advocates
from a range of academic, public and private institutions, in the US and
internationally. Tasks will include identifying, vetting and advancing
promising new tools and policies from across a variety of disciplines
including fisheries and natural resource science and management. This is
a great opportunity for a scientist looking to "sample" the NGO field.
The fellow will experience first-hand how to bring research into
practical application, connect with top researchers, policy experts,
practitioners and business leaders and contribute to meaningful and
timely solutions for the world's ocean and fisheries. The fellowship is
offered for 12 months and can be based in any of Ocean Conservancy's
offices http://www.oceanconservancy.org/who-we-are/contact-us.html with
a preference for Washington, DC. We're looking for someone with a PhD in
fisheries science, ecology, marine conservation, or related discipline
with a strong track record of multi-disciplinary research and/or
experience in complementary disciplines (e.g., economics, finance,
systems dynamics). Full position description and application
