Opportunity for graduate students who are finishing spring or summer 2011 and for recent postgraduates--

This fellowship is a 9 month appointment beginning Oct 1, 2011.

2011 Marc Hershman Marine Policy Fellowship

The Hershman Fellowship places one to three eligible graduate students or recent graduates with state agencies in Olympia, working on ocean and coastal science and management issues. The program offers a first-hand experience in crafting marine and natural resource policies and enables fellows to share their academic expertise with state decision makers. Fellows have previously worked or are currently working at the Department of Ecology, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Health, and Military Department Emergency Management Division. 2011 marks the end of the fellowship's three-year pilot program, which is currently under review; under consideration is extending the fellowship from nine months to one year and broadening fellowship topics and placements.

Please check the Washington Sea Grant website (http://wsg.washington.edu/education/fellowships/hershman.html) in March for further information on 2011 host offices, projects, and application guidelines.
