The next Informal Lunch Talk will be:

When: TODAY 12:00 pm, Monday, July 23, 2012
Where: , Lillie 103, MBL
Who: Dmitry Mozzherin, Center for Library and Informatics, MBL
Title: Accessible Scientific Illustration in 3D is not around the corner -- it is here.

About the talk:

Almost everybody in science has fiddled with Photoshop or Gimp to create a figure for a paper, a presentation, or a patent. 3D modeling, in contrast, has an aura of black magic available only to the few. It is simply not true anymore -- with some determination stunning models, 3D prints, animations, and interactive 'games' demonstrating a scientific concept can be created with free packages like Blender. With this lecture we demonstrate key features of Blender and discuss new opportunities it creates.
