Hi all,

Just a reminder about the biogeochemistry hour
tomorrow at 4 pm in Watson 201.

There will be a couple of short talks about carbon in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre, and all are welcome to present or just to hang out and listen, then discuss.

If you haven’t yet, please let me know if you’re coming so I can get appropriate supplies (and let me know if you have a specific favorite drink or snack). I look forward to seeing you there!

Dan

Hello Students and Post-Docs!

Before Covid, there was a semi-weekly meeting of folks interested in biogeochemistry at large—the Biogeochemistry Power Hour—it was a casual end-of-workday opportunity to hang out over a drink and

talk about a paper
practice a presentationstand on your soapbox and convivially rant about something in your fieldget advice about experiments or analyses you were planninganything you wanted.

I’d like to announce the return of the Biogeochemistry Power Hour/Chalk-Talk/Paper Reading Club!

For our inaugural meeting, next
Thursday, November 7th at 4 pm in Watson 201, Zephyr Girard and I (and you?) will practice presentations for an upcoming conference—the general topics will be “single sinking particle nano-scale lipidomics” and “diel rhythms in photosynthetic
energy storage” in the NPSG, and whatever you want to talk about.  Future paper suggestions or discussion leader volunteers are encouraged—begged, even.

Your favorite cold beverages and snacks will also be provided, courtesy of MC&G! Please give me a shout if you plan to attend, or if you also want to present, so I can prep adequate drinks and snacks.

Thanks, and see you there!

Dan
