lives and the lives of people of color. She is also the creator of A
Beautiful Resistance, a special project for The Boston Globe that
centers Black voices and celebrates Black Joy.

Jeneé contextualizes cultural news and witnesses for the people.
Sometimes this means writing about Beyoncé and Black womanhood or
unpacking the importance of public art and representation. Sometimes
this means taking systemic racism, sexism, and oppression to task. It
always means Black lives matter.

She joined the Globe in 2018. A native of Alexandria, Va. and a graduate
of Norfolk State University, Osterheldt was a 2017 Nieman Fellow at
Harvard, where her studies focused on the intersection of art and

We are listing this week several Black History Month exhibits and
events. Black History Month first began in the 1920's
as an attempt to recognize the fact that the achievements of African
Americans were often invisible to the rest of the country.
This process continues to this day, the process of illuminating
contributions of all peoples, reflecting the ideal of what America is.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice *

WORKSHOP ON MICROAGRESSION – On Tuesday, February 16 at 7:00 PM, you are
invited to join a

community workshop on microaggression facilitated by Dr. Seyana Mawusi.
The Zoom event is hosted by No Place

for Hate Falmouth and No Place for Hate Barnstable. As we deal with the
implications of structural racism on a

national level, we can also confront racism on a smaller scale—in our
daily lives and that of our neighbors. This

workshop is designed to enable participants to define microaggression,
understand why it takes place, as well as its

varieties and effects, and how to align awareness with responsive
action. To register for the Zoom event, go to

npfhfalmouth.orgortinyurl.com/e2swb6sl.

10 REASONS WHY AMERICA CANNOT TALK ABOUT RACE – Please join the Cape Cod
Cape Verdean

Museum and Cultural Center for a discussion on Friday, February 19 from
7:00-9:00 PM. Speakers include Dr.

Carolyn Fluehr-Lobban, author of Race and Racism: An Introduction, along
with Barbara Burgo and Hannah

Resseger, authors of Oppression Can Make a Sane Person Mad. You can join
the discussion through this login:
