WATERFIRE in Providence
Join
us for the next lighting of WaterFire in
Providence downtown on:
Saturday,
August 3
FULL
LIGHTING – Sunset 8:02 pm
About
WaterFire
WaterFire
centers around a series of nearly 100 bonfires
that blaze just above the surface of the three
rivers that pass through the middle of downtown
Providence.
The string of fires illuminates nearly
two-thirds of a mile of urban public spaces
and parks, as residents and visitors gather to
stroll along the river, listening to music and
watching performances. Boats pass quietly
before the flames, as black-clad performers
tend the fires from sunset to midnight.
WaterFire
is an experience that surrounds viewers on all
sides and impacts all five senses. The
crackling flames, the scent of blazing cedar
and pine, the flickering firelight on the
arched bridges, the silhouettes of the fire
tenders, the flotilla of performers traveling
along the river in torch-lit vessels, and the
extraordinary music from all over the world
engage all of the senses and evoke emotions
from the many thousands who come to stroll
along the river walks.
WaterFire
Providence is partnering up with RI
Defeats Hep C for
the 6th “C is for Cure” event.
Sponsored
in part by AbbVie and Amica
Insurance
Clear
Currents, our
community paddling night at WaterFire is also
happening on August 3, 2019.
WaterFire
is free of charge and open to all.

Local live
theater is not inexpensive but
there's a lot of it, and it is often
worth considering:
The CLOC College
Light Opera Company is at Highfield

the top of the hill)
It is the largest
university troupe of Broadway/West End
type musical shows in the country. Their
cast come from universities all over the
world.
