Hi,
I wanted to pass on some information from a friend regarding a science communication competition that might be of interests to biologists (sorry everyone else). This friend of mine was one of the winners (https://www.ibiology.org/ibioseminars/andrew-p-nosal.html), so had great things to say about it.
Please pass it on, including to your MBL / WHRC friends.
Cheers,
Mattias

If you are a graduate student or postdoc interested in science
communication, consider applying for the *2017 iBiology Young Science
Seminar (YSS)* competition! YSS is a video series produced by iBiology
featuring young scientists giving talks about their research and
discoveries.
You can watch some of the videos here:
https://www.ibiology.org/ibioseminars/young-scientist-seminar-series.html
I was a winner in the inaugural 2015 competition and it was a
transformative moment in my career. I highly recommend any graduate
student or postdoc with an interesting research story to apply.
*The deadline to apply is December 15, 2016 and is open to anyone in the
world!*
Four winners will receive a $500 honorarium and an all-expenses-paid trip
to San Francisco to participate in a multi-day science communication
workshop led by the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. At the end
of the workshop, the winners will record their talk in a green screen
studio.
