[All-postdocs] Fwd: Upcoming events of possible interest

**Post-docs, these are events that have been planned in conjunction with 
the WHOI PDA, and will likely be of interest to many of you! **

All,

This is a heads up for 2 events that are forthcoming that may interest
some of you.

EVENT #1.  Thurs, May 1.  Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR)
workshop plus lunch.  Carriage House

10 am - 11 am.  Small groups discussion on publishing:  topics such as
e.g. publishing in journals - what you can include and how to retain
rights to your information; open access; ownership rights; peer review -
sharing of information, listing of names on reviews, what to do if this
article contains information you are trying to publish at the same time
(recusing yourself), etc.

11 am to Noon.  Small groups discussion on Web page ethics; posting to
the internet/social media; research gate; linked in; twitter; facebook
and related topics.

Noon:  Lunch

Feel free to attend and participate in one or both of these
discussions.   PLEASE RSVP TO ME BY 28 APRIL  IF YOU WANT TO STAY FOR LUNCH.

EVENT #2.   Career discussion with selected WHOI Trustees and
Corporation members.  Weds, May 21.  Late afternoon.  Exact time and
place TBD.

Not sure yet exactly who will be participating from the
Trustees/Corporation.  We did this once before and the participants
included senior people from small to large consulting companies (e.g.
SAIC), Federal labs (eg the Navy's Center for Naval Analysis), and small
businesses supporting ocean operations and manufacturing ocean
instrumentation (e.g. Satlantic).  I'll send around a list of
participants once the date gets closer.
