At a glance:
The COVID pandemic of 2020 caused an inevitable gap in our work, but our monitoring work is now back to normal. Despite a dry warm September causing wildfires and smoke, yearly precipitation averages were normal. To the north, more rain coincided with high Fraser River flows. Thanks to the many volunteers who contributed photographs, we can say that 2020 was a productive year for Puget Sound: schools of herring, Noctiluca, and reports of decaying organic material were numerous. Beautiful photographs of critters in water, and creative tales of critters in the sediment, are testaments that life continues.
