Nice bloom of good old Gonyaulax sp. (digitale or spinifera?) going on in Cap Sante Harbor, Fidalgo Bay and Guemes Channel. The Cypress Island sites are picking them up in their routine water sampling, but nothing like the concentrations that Fidalgo Bay is having. Water in the Harbor is strong tea colored with Orange Crush added in. I haven't counted them, but they are thriving. There may be a few Alexandrium running alongside, but it is predominantly a Gonyaulax sp., bloom with some Gymnodinium mixed in. No Heterosigmas for the time being. Strong tides are picking back up this week so things will get swirled around, again.
Cheers, KB
