The Marine Unit at Ecology is getting multiple reports of Noctiluca blooms in within the last two days. It looks like Noctiluca on the images but it has not been confirmed by the Sound Toxin volunteer group but King County had a positive confirmation for Edmonds.

*         Des Moines,

*         Shoreline,

*         Bainbridge Island,

*         Sinclair Inlet,

*         Edmonds,

*         Elliott Bay,

*         Alki Beach

*         Miller Bay

*         Murden Cove

Citizens have sent us multiple images taken from shore.

The last two years the bloom started in June so we are definitively earlier this year than the previous two years which also were colder fresher. But with the weather being this mild it is not all too surprising to have a Noctiluca bloom 3 weeks early.

I am very interested in seeing the entire scale of it during our EOPS flight next week.

I hope this helps,

Christopher
