SoundHAB: EOPS releasing aerial photos from yesterday's Aug 21 Puget Sound flight

EOPS Pre-release notice:  On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 we conducted an EOPS flight over the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.

We documented:

*         Large drifting algal mats in Hood Canal, Case Inlets, Oakland Bay and Central Sound east of Bainbridge Island.

*         Red-brown blooms in Budd, Totten, Eld, Sinclair Inlets and Oakland Bay.

*         Yellow-green blooms occurred in West of Marrowstone Island (see image 1480) and in a southern bay of Sucia Island.

*         The Fraser river sediment plume dramatically permeates the San Juan Islands and spills into the Straits (see image 1570).
