We deliver information on surface conditions in Puget Sound within 2 days of aerial observation. Surface conditions from February 27th, 2012 are now available online.

http://ecy.wa.gov/programs/eap/mar_wat/eops/

The pdf documents have clickable navigation links.

Goal:
We provide timely and spatially nested information on visible surface features in Puget Sound to improve temporal and spatial context. EOPS material supports awareness, education, and inspires others.

A cost effective environmental news product:
We use routine empty transit flights between Kenmore Airbase and Olympia to document current marine surface conditions by camera. We supplement the information with satellite images, en route ferry, weather and mooring data.

Aerial photography:
If you would like to see all pictures from the flights, go to ftp://www.ecy.wa.gov/eap/Flight_Blog/latest_pictures/

We hope the images are inspiring and informative.

With best regards,

Christopher and the Marine Monitoring Unit
