Sample collected late this afternoon from the Edmunds Marina by Kevin
Bright. A red-brown dense bloom extending offshore and seen from the
Washington State ferry. The full extent of the bloom not known.

I saw numerous very healthy and mobile Ceratium fusus mixed with some other
thecate dinoflagellates in a field microscope.

Ceratium fusus has been implicated in larval shellfish, shrimp and fish
mortality and is very common this time of year in inlets and bays,
particularly of Southern Puget Sound.
