I also wanted to share a couple of photos of Akashiwo sanguinea. The bottle sample showing the tendrils of swimming cells that form at the surface, extended downward, of a whole water sample. This pattern of congregation is also characteristic for Heterosigma akashiwo blooms that I have noticed. The microscope image is showing live Akashiwo sanguinea cells.
