The Heterosigma bloom at Eagle Harbor of Bainbridge Island was gone by
Monday, July 5th as of 9pm. Instead there were many heterotrophic
dinoflagellates present. I expect the dinos had a feast. I observed
many fish jumping in the harbor.
Also, the Heterosigma cells observed that were collected on Friday,
July 2nd were very lightly pigmented small cells that had an unusually
lumpy exterior surface. After they heated up from the light on the
scope, they rounded up into the more recognizable cells. These Eagle
Harbor samples also contained a number of actively feeding Noctiluca.
