Pete Becker reports yesterday, 2 August:
There is a growing bloom of a light green cast in the mouth of Dabob and
spreading south this after noon observed as I drove north on 101. It could
be the cocolithophore bloom re-occurring judging by extent and water color
but has not reached the milky white of last year....bears watching and a
water sample if someone has a boat...or even just beach access as it is
right up against the rocks near the road leading to the Brinnon Lab , at
the south foot of Walker Mt Summit...
I will check again on Sunday but am headed up to the San Juan's on Monday s
o I will not be back that way. Ed Jones at Taylor's Hatchery could get a
sample if it gets that far north but one needs an SEM to properly id a
Cocolithophore ...even 1000x under oil does not resolve the features.
