Edible Plant Talk

The Tastiest Species Cape Cod has to Offer

Thursday, July 11

6:30PM - 8:00PM

Cape Cod is home to over 100 species of edible wild plants, and over a dozen species of edible wild mushrooms. Join Russ Cohen, author of the book Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten, for a 90-minute PowerPoint presentation that will cover over two dozen of the tastiest species the Cape has to offer. These include species everyone knows well, like daisies and dandelions, to species folks may not have even heard of, like Calamus and Carrion Flower. Keys to the identification of each species will be provided, along with info on edible portions, season of availability, and preparation methods, as well as guidelines for safe, ethical, and environmentally-responsible foraging. Last but not least, Russ will also provide printed handouts as well as samples of foraged goodies made with wild edibles for folks to sip and nibble on.
