SPRING 2024 CLOTHING & TEXTILE COLLECTION EVENT

Date: April 13-14, 2024
Location: 790 Main Street, Falmouth, MA
The collection trailer will be parked in front of Falmouth Senior Center and Gus Canty Community Center.
Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This is a self-serve, drive-up & drop-off event.
Coordinated by: Falmouth Department of Public Works, and collected by Baystate Textiles
Proceeds: Benefit the Falmouth Public Elementary School PTOs.
Residents requiring assistance with their materials should come between 9:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday, when the trailer will be staffed by volunteers.

This recycling event provides residents with a convenient outlet for excess quantities of clothing and textiles. Materials donated at this event are carefully sorted and sold or donated for re-use as clothing, if in good condition. Ripped, worn, or damaged clothing will be re-purposed for a variety of consumer uses or recycled into new products such as mattress stuffing or cleaning rags. Residents are also encouraged to donate seasonally appropriate clothing in excellent condition to local thrift stores.

Our Fall 2023 textile collection event brought in 13,750 pounds of materials, and a donation of $825.00 from Baystate Textiles. Clothing and Textiles have been on Mass DEP's "Waste Ban" list since 2022, and should no longer be disposed of in the trash, saving limited landfill space and reducing disposal costs. Clothing and Textiles must never be placed in curbside recycling carts where they will be discarded; or worse, they may tangle and damage machinery or injure employees working in the facility where our curbside materials are sorted.
