children's book, “Where the Weird Things Are” hits bookstores today!

The book follows Meso, an underwater explorer-robot, as it dives deep into the
ocean twilight zone and meets some weird and wonderful creatures. Meso is based
on the real life underwater vehicle Mesobot , which I helped design and build.

When we first started working on this robot’s design, I never imagined that Mesobot might one day help kids embrace their inner weirdness and come to see diversity
as a strength.

I have loved working on this book with other WHOI scientists—and can’t wait for
you to see it.
