Summer Science School Director and Teacher Opportunities
The Waquoit Bay Reserve Foundation, in partnership with the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, is seeking two energetic people to co-teach weekly sessions related to estuary ecology. Children in grades 2 - 12 attend weekly sessions from July 10 through August 18, 2023, at the Waquoit Bay Reserve. These are seasonal contract positions that do not provide benefits. The contract term for the teacher begins at the end of June and continues through mid-August. The director position will start earlier - exact timing to be negotiated.
Summer Daily Schedule: Monday through Friday, July 10-August 18, 8:15AM to 3:30PM

Duties include:
●        Attend up to five paid training/orientation sessions at the Waquoit Bay Reserve to work with Reserve Education staff to plan, design and organize summer school programs.
●        Provide planning and teaching for six one-week-long educational experiences for children in grades 2 through 12 that encourage curiosity in science and the natural world.
●        Conduct engaging, hands-on lessons and activities in the classroom, woodlands, salt marshes and shoreline within the Waquoit Bay Reserve.
●        Teach and demonstrate principles of sustainability and stewardship in all programs.
●        Participate in a wrap-up meeting at the end of the season.
●        The director will have additional leadership duties to be paid on an hourly basis.

Qualifications:
●        Must be knowledgeable about coastal ecology and comfortable working in the field and handling live marine invertebrates
●        Experience working with children
●        Outdoor education and/or field experience
●        Current CPR/ First Aid certification and Covid-19 vaccination required prior to start date.
●        Degree in a related field is a plus
