Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies (Marine
Conservation and Policy)

Colby College - Waterville, ME



The Colby College Environmental Studies Department invites applications for
a tenure-track position in Marine Conservation and Policy at the rank of
Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2023.  We invite applicants with
interdisciplinary interests and expertise in human dimensions of oceans or
coastal ecosystem management, policy, or conservation. We are especially
interested in candidates who bridge the social and natural sciences with
scholarship on dimensions of climate change, fisheries management, marine
protected areas, or coastal zone management, marine extinction risk.



Maine is internationally recognized for its marine resources.  The state
has more than 3,500 miles of coastline, vibrant fisheries and off-shore
energy industries, and is home to nationally and internationally recognized
marine science and policy institutes that provide opportunities for
teaching and research. We invite candidates who can build a local, national
or international research program.



Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline and a strong
commitment to undergraduate research and education. Teaching
responsibilities may include courses in marine conservation, marine
environmental policy, environmental policy, an advanced course in the area
of the candidate’s expertise, or in some years, the team-taught
introductory environmental studies course or a research-focused capstone
course.
