Community Visioning Workshop:
Coastal Resilience in Woods Hole
A Virtual Public Forum
Wednesday, February 9, 2022
6-8 PM
ResilientWoodsHole is a private-public initiative to ensure that the vibrant and productive village of Woods Hole prospers well into the future with the advent of major climate impacts.
We need your input to successfully plan for coastal resilience in Woods Hole!
This participatory workshop will begin with a review and update on Woods Hole’s vulnerability to sea-level rise and storm surge.
Then, attendees will have a chance to roll up their sleeves and rotate between breakout groups, providing input on:
* Important aspects of Woods Hole to adapt for resilience
* Your observations of flooding in Woods Hole
* Your preferred strategies for building resilience
Other topics to be discussed in breakout sessions include:
* Private-property flood protection opportunities
* Sewer adaptation ideas
This workshop is free and open to the public.
Registration will open on Monday, January 24, at resilientwoodshole.org<https://mbl.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=57a0a47b9fb10b5983b04175f&id=ee00303c68&e=3e4cdb2fb1>

###
ResilientWoodsHole is led by a collaboration between Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL), and NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NOAA Fisheries) and also includes local stakeholders, including the business, residential and science communities. The Town of Falmouth, the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM), and the Woods Hole Group are active partners in ResilientWoodsHole.
This workshop is a crucial part of ResilientWoodsHole’s efforts to engage the local community, schools, businesses, and residents in a dialogue about coastal flooding risks; identify village flood pathways and vulnerabilities; and discuss long-term adaptation strategies. This effort is funded through CZM’s Coastal Resilience Grant Program and matching funds from WHOI, MBL, and NOAA Fisheries.
