Lauren Augustine is the Executive Director of the Gulf Research Program, a 30-year effort to benefit Gulf of Mexico communities and ecosystems, tackle oil system safety, protect human health, and steward and enhance environmental resources.

She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of management and use of $500 million in funds awarded to the National Academy of Sciences as part of the $20.8 billion settlement from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion.
