*WEBINARS FOR STEM EDUCATORS:*

*When: May 21, 2020 1:00-1:45PM Educators, join the Lemelson-MIT Program
and the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network for a free, resource-filled
webinar. We will offer resources and tips for engaging students with STEM
at home through invention projects. *

The Lemelson-MIT Program, located in MIT’s School of Engineering, has
prepared and celebrated young inventors for over 15 years. We will share
invention education resources that have proven to help develop inventive
mindsets and hands-on skills for inventing and engineering design among
K-12 students. We will also provide an in-depth walkthrough of one
invention activity that is fun and engaging for classrooms and families!

Your Instructors for this webinar:

Leigh Estabrooks, Ed.D.

Leigh is the invention education officer for LMIT, and oversees all K-12
invention education initiatives. Leigh previously managed LMIT's InvenTeams
program, and has been instrumental in the development of new initiatives,
including Junior Varsity InvenTeams™ and the 2010 launch of the Inventing
Merit Badge in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America. Previously,
Leigh held positions in new product development at Fortune 500 consumer
products companies, and was a licensed secondary school educator at a
technical high school.

Helen Zhang, Ph.D.

Helen Zhang has over 15 years of experience in designing and implementing
STEM activities in formal and informal settings. She develops online
webinars addressing key issues related to Invention Education, conducts
workshops to engage teachers in integrating invention projects in their
classrooms, and provides practical suggestions to invention educators on
how to better support young inventors.
