** Weekly STEM Education Resources
------------------------------------------------------------
At the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network, we believe Black Lives Matter and stand in solidarity with those working for freedom, racial equity, equality, and justice. As stated in the MA Board of Higher Education's Equity Agenda (https://capecodstemnetwork.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e42964f129d483d76c0c4bbc&id=a15c3f313e&e=79dee973df) , increasing equitable education outcomes for the traditionally underserved populations in our communities is a strategic priority for our program, but as I reflected on the STEM Network's current initiatives and opportunities, I realized that we can and have to do more.
Over the next several weeks and months I will be working to identify specific needs and opportunities to increase access to and outcomes for the underserved populations in our regional STEM Learning Ecosystem-- with the intention of making meaningful change moving forward. If you are interested to join in this effort, please email me at bburger at capecod.edu.
There is much we can also do to equip ourselves and those we educate with knowledge. This week's resources include websites and webinars available that focus on STEM education, and also those that promote anti-racism and equity. These are difficult and heartbreaking times, but there is also hope-- hope for real and positive change in our systems. Each one of us, both individually and collectively can make a difference, and do our part to create a bright future for this community. Please join us. -Bridget Burger

SUMMER 2020 TEACHER-IN-RESIDENCE APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
Are you a K-12 Cape & Islands STEM educator interested in bringing STEM education to life in your classroom?
Our Teacher-in-Residence program connects K-12 educators with local STEM-rich institutions each summer to immerse in the organization's activities and create robust standards-aligned curriculum units which we publish on our website (https://capecodstemnetwork.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e42964f129d483d76c0c4bbc&id=e05da68552&e=79dee973df) .
Each externship provides a $1,000 stipend to the educator and the opportunity to connect with leading regional STEM institutions by creating a curriculum one or more units they can use with their students. This summer we are pleased to offer two externships that will take place virtually, and will focus on teaching STEM in the remote learning environment. The first externship will be with Woods Hole Sea Grant, and the second will be with MBL: Marine Biological Laboratory. The externships will be open until filled.

What are the Basic Steps to Project Based Learning
In researching PBL’s we have discovered that various authors suggest different steps to a project. You will find a 5-step approach, a 6-step approach, a 7-step approach, and a 9-step approach as examples. Here are the links for the different approaches, and then we are giving our recommendations with a project planner and template you can use.
