Join us at Cape Cod Bird Club Monday March 11 for David and Fran Clapp's talk covering Brazil's Pantanal and Amazon, from anacondas to jaguars to lots and lots of birds. Meetings are free and open to the public, 7PM at Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster. https://www.capecodbirdclub.org/wordpress/meetings/
Brazil is geographically large and biologically diverse. Richly diverse. The Amazon gets the most press but the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and Pantanal are both deserving of recognition and perhaps better for wildlife viewing opportunities. The Pantanal is the world’s largest wetland and is a naturalists paradise. Birding Pantanal is a bird-focused nature tour company that specializes in the Pantanal. Birding Pantanal is a well-rounded and experienced tour company. David and Fran Clapp spent a couple weeks in the this (very) hot part of the world with a driver and bird guide and had a great time. There were birds of course; but also reptiles, mammals, and a great variety of tropical fruits.
David has worked and traveled the world as a natural history tour leader for more than thirty years. He has led more than 100 tours for the Smithsonian Institution, and many more for BushTracks, Mass Audubon, and other organizations. Fran was an aquatic insect taxonomist and vernal pool specialist for Mass Audubon and served as the Commonwealth’s Aquatic Ecologist before moving to the Cape and taking a job with Cape Cod 5.
