Back by popular demand - "Discover Marine Life," the National Marine Life
Center's summer day program. Dive into the world of marine animal biology
and conservation as you spend a week getting to know your favorite seafaring
species. Discover how wildlife rehabilitation experts tend turtles, study
seals, and doctor dolphins! Learn about sharks, fish, and invertebrates.
Explore a tidal habitat and collect critters to study throughout the week.
Participate in a variety of other exciting indoor and outdoor activities.

 

Session 1 is scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2019 through Friday, July 12,
2019; Session 2 for Monday, July 29, 2019 through Friday, August 2, 2019 and
Session 3 for Monday, August 5, 2019 through Friday, August 9, 2019. The
program runs from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 9:30 am to
12:00 pm on Friday. Sessions 1 and 2 are geared towards younger children,
ages 9-11 years and entering grades 3-5. Session 3 is geared towards older
children, ages 12-14 years and entering grades 6-8. All three weeks offer
similar programming. The cost for the five-day program is $199/members or
$250/non-members. Families must be NMLC members at the $50 Gray Seal level
or higher to qualify for the member rate.

 

The program takes place at the National Marine Life Center, 120 Main Street,
in Buzzards Bay. Please be aware that there will be limited exposure to live
seals, and turtles, depending on the number and condition of our animal
patients. Students may spend part of each day outdoors and should come
prepared with appropriate clothing including layers, a change of clothes,
water shoes, and sunscreen. Students must bring their own lunch. Snacks and
water are provided.
