Cape Cod is arguably one of the finest spots on Earth to view cetaceans
from land. Critically endangered North Atlantic right whales come to Cape
Cod Bay each winter to feed, while in late spring and early summer,
humpback, fin and minke whales arrive.
CCS Director of Marine Education Jesse Mechling will lead guided walks to
either Race Point, Wood End, or Herring Cove to watch for whales as they
feed in the surrounding waters, often only a few hundred feet from shore.
Jesse will also share information and updates on right whale research.
Walks last 1–2 hours. Participants must be able to walk up to 3 miles in
soft sand. Dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes. Bring
binoculars if you have them. Meeting location and directions will be
provided upon registration.
Suggested donation: $5 for CCS members and $10 for non-members. *Register
